Silica dust is a harmful pollutant that can cause severe lung damage and diseases like cancer and silicosis.

The Australian Cancer Council demolition work and road construction as a common area where exposure to silica dust occurs.

As the Victorian Government completes widening works on the Eastern freeway, dismantling noise and dust pollution walls residents are at risk from this dangerous dust.

Hosing down the area while completing this work is not sufficient to protect nearby homes and residents.

I asked what the government to outline the protective measures they’re taking to protect the lungs of residents living near the Eastern Freeway widening works from this dangerous dust.
