The Victorian government is planning to cut up to 3000 public sector jobs.
Yes, the Labor part, historically the party of workers, is betraying its government employees and downsizing thousands of jobs in the name of ‘efficiency’ and ‘cost cutting’.

Does any of that sound familiar?
Comparisons have been made to Elon Musk’s DOGE; the Department of Government Efficiencies. Which has attempted to make similar cuts to the government workforce over in the US, going as far as shutting down entire departments.

The CPSU and other unions from across the state have come out saying they are appalled by these cuts. They have banded together to voice their opposition and organised protests at Parliament House.

These cuts risk compromising front line services that Victorians rely on, like education and healthcare.
Our public sector workers are our teachers, nurses, rangers, fisheries officers, and community service workers.
@aivgoesgreen The Victorian Government plans to cut 3000 public sector jobs. These are our nurses, teachers, community service workers and so many more of our essential workers. The Labor Party used to be the party for workers, but right now they more closely resemble Elon Musk’s DOGE.

One in 10 Victorian workers are employed in our public sector.
Imagine the fear and uncertainty this announcement has caused for thousands of workers and their families.
And if the government needs to find some more money for their budget, the Greens have some great ideas on how to do just that!
Tax the banks! Tax the billionaires. Tax the big corporations.

Wealth inequality is still growing. People are struggling. We should be protecting and expanding these services that people rely on, not gutting them.
It’s shameful that this Labor Government is compromising our state and putting the crucial jobs of 3,000 Victorians on the chopping block.
