People in North East Melbourne have been forced to sign more than 7000 non-disclosure agreements in exchange for compensation for damages caused by the construction of the North East Link.
The Labor Government and their contractors should not be trying to cover up the extensive damage caused by the construction of the ludicrously expensive North East Link toll road.
The damage caused by the construction has included ripping through suburbs, leaving potholes in roads and cracking houses.
The subterfuge and secrecy of these NDAs and secret payments were enacted so that the government could go on pretending that this disastrous and expensive project was a success, and that construction is going smoothly.
Clearly that’s not the reality of this catastrophic project.
The public has a right to know about this project and its real effects on the local environment and communities, and judge for themselves if it was well executed and good value for money.
7000 NDAs is too many secrets and cover ups.
Tax payers deserve to know how public money is being spent.
We want to see less secrecy and more transparency from the government in Victoria.
